The Year 4 children truly brought the ‘glorious’ to Glevum as they enjoyed an immersive day of learning linked to their Romans history topic. The children discovered about the different types of Roman soldiers before exploring a variety of battle formations such as the ‘wedge,’ ‘tortoise’ and ‘repel Calvary’ – these were then put into practice as the children split up into battalions and ran the enemy gauntlet, avoiding arrows (dodgeballs!) as they went. Those soldiers who broke their formations suffered the most hits! If that wasn’t enough, the students also completed their DT projects by designing, making and baking their own pizzas. What a day!
